LOCAL RULES
USGA RULES SHALL GOVERN ALL PLAY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FOLLOWING RULES.
A. ALL PREPARED ROADS AND CART-PATHS “ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS” (Obstruction Rule 16.1a Applies). Determine the nearest point of relief (NO NEARER THE HOLE), lift the ball and then drop the ball within one club length of that point - NO PENALTY.
B. All Flower Beds are in play, no free relief. You must play the ball as it lies or take relief under the unplayable lie rule (Rule 19) with a 1 stroke penalty.
C. ALL SPRINKLER CONTROL BOXES (Apply Rule 16.1a). If Control Box interferes with stance or swing, determine the nearest point of relief (NO NEARER THE HOLE), lift the ball and drop it within one club length of that point - NO PENALTY.
D. 150 YARD MARKER DISCS (Apply Rule 16-1a). If marker interferes with stance or swing, determine the nearest point of relief (NO NEARER THE HOLE), lift the ball and drop it within one club length of that point - NO PENALTY.
E. PROTECTIVE SCREEN & PRACTICE AREA - Right of # 6 and right of #9 is now played as a “PENALTY AREA” and is defined with red stakes (Apply rule 17). You may hit a ball in a penalty area and may ground your club NO PENALTY. You may determine the point of entry and drop the ball within one club length of that point. (NO NEARER THE HOLE). ONE STROKE PENALTY.
F. EMBEDDED BALL (Apply Rule 16-3a). A ball which by force of impact remains imbedded in its own pitch mark EXCEPT IN A PENALTY AREA, may be lifted, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it was lifted from and must come to rest NO NEARER THE HOLE - NO PENALTY.
G. CIRCLED AREAS “ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS” (Apply Rule 16.1a). Determine the nearest point of relief (NO NEARER THE HOLE), lift the ball and drop it within one club length of that point - NO PENALTY.
H. COMFORT STATIONS, AND DRINKING FOUNTAINS are obstructions (Apply Rule 16). Determine the nearest point of relief (NO NEARER THE HOLE), lift the ball and drop it within one club length of that point - NO PENALTY.
I. BOUNDARY FENCE around course and FENCE TO THE RIGHT OF NO. 7 FAIRWAY. The ball must be played as it lies; unplayable-lie rule can be used for relief. The OUT OF BOUNDS LINE ON HOLES NO. 9 AND NO. 10 is determined by the NEAREST INSIDE POINTS of the fence posts at ground level.
J. PREFERRED LIES OR “WINTER RULES”
1) A ball may be moved within the “GENERAL AREA” with the following exceptions:
A. A ball may NOT be moved when it lies:
a. within 36” of a tree trunk or stump
b. within 36” of out of bounds. NOTE: 36” is the length of a wedge.
2) If lifted, a ball shall be marked, it may be cleaned and placed no more than 6” from its original lie, no nearer the hole. USE OF CLUB HEAD IS NOT ALLOWED.
A. A ball so moved must preserve as much as possible the stance of the original lie.
B. The player may move his ball ONE TIME only per shot without penalty.
C. A ball that moves after being placed, after the mark has been lifted, must be played as it lies.
3) The Embedded Ball Rule shall be in effect “through the green.”
A. When an embedded ball is lost “beyond a reasonable doubt” in a defined area, another ball may be put into play as near as possible to the spot the original ball was lost without penalty.
B. An embedded ball in a hazard must be played as it lies.
